WILLIAM PREWETT (fl. 1735-1750), miniature portrait of a child with shoulder-length hair wearing a pink dress with a white stomacher, the bodice trimmed with white lace; enamel on copper, signed verso: W Prewett pinx; gilt-metal mount with hanging ring, circa 1740. Provenance: The Starr Foundation Inc., Kansas City; Sotheby's, 1982. Prewett (or Prewitt) was born in Suffolk and trained under the Swiss enamellist Zincke. His clientele included King George II (miniature held in the V&A Museum)

In the jewellery business since the mid 1980s when Plaza started their business in Nice, France (now UK based). Inspired by the glamour of the French Riviera and a love of beautiful jewellery, this created a perfect backdrop for a vintage jewellery business specialising in French and European jewellery with a particular feeling for pieces from the 1940s-1960s. Their knowledge and experience was gained during 16 years working in such a beautiful and exotic environment.
