A semi close up the detailing work done on the leather of the sheath from the sword I made last year. Every step of the sword was hand made with hand tools and was a lot of work. Working through a mountain of Orkney Boreray horn the last few weeks, trying to process it all so it's ready for use as a material for pendants. This involves a lot of cutting, boiling, flattening and filing to prepare it. This way I end up with flat pieces of gorgeous horn to work with. The image shows the horn during the opening process. I am now nearly at the end of the processing part for these pieces of horn, just the flattening left, so be ready for serious amounts horn work coming soon. Working through a mountain of Orkney Boreray horn the last few weeks, trying to process it all so it's ready for use as a material for pendants. This involves a lot of cutting, boiling, flattening and filing to prepare it. This way I end up with flat pieces of gorgeous horn to work with. The image shows the horn during the opening process.
