The Port of Felixstowe in Suffolk is one of the busiest containers ports in Britain. Ships arrive from all around the globe including the largest in the world, often on their maiden voyages.

On the 7th January 2015, the world’s largest container ship arrived at the Port of Felixstowe on its maiden voyage.  The CSCL Globe is 399 metres long and has the container capacity of 19100 TEU. Shortly after its arrival in Felixstowe, the ship lost its title.

It currently holds the title of world’s largest container ship although it is slightly shorter at 395 meters long but it has a larger container capacity of 19224. In October 2013, the Majestic Maersk, the world’s largest container ship arrived at the Port of Felixstowe on its maiden voyage.  The ship no longer holds this title.  Maersk Triple E class ship is 399 metres long and has the container capacity of 18,270 TEU.
