Mashed Potato Pie

This should be eaten with meat or something as a meal or fancy mash as a side dish! Not the easiest thing to make, but then again, not the hardest. It was nice apart from the fact it needed more seasoning, something to keep in mind for next time! You will need: 1kg peeled potatoes cut into smallish pieces (have to be about same size) 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil 1 onion, finely chopped 100g shelled peas, fresh or frozen (and thawed) 30g unsalted butter 250ml milk or cream (or a…

Homemade Lasagna Recipe

This recipe came about after a trip to Costco. While there I had a sample of their lasagne which I thought was nice so decided to buy one even though it was quite expensive. On getting home we had it for dinner and everyone agreed that it was very tasty so I decided to try and replicate it. After the first two attempts failed miserably I finally nailed it and this is the resultant recipe which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. Ingredients :- 750g lean minced beef 1 medium / large onion finely…

Banana Loaf

This is taken from Abbie's blog. This is one of the families favorite recipes as it uses up the leftover bananas and also tastes delicious. Over to Abbie. You can't get much more simple than this recipe, it's one of the first things I did. It doesn't look like the easiest thing, but it really is as easy as 1 2 3! And is also a very nice way to use old bananas. YOU WILL NEED: 225g of plain flour 175g of caster sugar 1tsp of bicarbonate of soda 1tsp of salt 50g of walnut & almond…

Vegetarian Leek Tart – Create, Make & Bake! Leek Tart, Cookery Books, Grated Cheese, Different Recipes, Flan, Nom Nom, Easy Meals, Brunch

Leek Tart

A couple of weeks ago we were looking through a vegetarian cookery book and we found the Leek Tart, it looked easy enough so I gave it a go! This isn't the easiest recipe, about 3/5 for difficulty! You will need: 500g chopped leek WHITE parts only (we followed the recipe with 700g but it was too much leek for us) 75g polyunsaturated oil (sunflower oil) 225g wholemeal flour + 2 tbsp 2tbsp salt & pepper (1tbsp salt 1tbsp pepper) 75g butter or polyunsaturated margarine 450ml milk…

Chicken and Veggie Broth

About a week ago I did a post on garlic croutons that I did for my Grandads Chicken and Veggie broth that he had a go at making. So I've had a go at this time with Grandads help. There are NO exact measurements so I'll do my best to give the recipe. This is an easy recipe, but does include lots of boiling water!!! You will need: 6 Spring onions cut off at where the first leaf starts A small swede diced The same amount of chopped carrots and peas as swede 3 Whole chicken breasts…

Manchester Tart Manchester Tart, Difficult Recipe, Custard Powder, Shortcrust Pastry, Different Recipes, The Dish, Flan, Rolling Pin, Bananas

Manchester Tart

Started august off with a doozy. We found Robert Allen's Twitter page & saw he has a 'competition' called '#TwitterBakeAlong',. Anyway, we thought we'd give the weekly bake alongs a try, this weeks was the Manchester Tart. I'm not the biggest fan of custard, and there was a LOT of custard. One thing that I do like about it is that the Raspberry jam works well with the custard and bananas, making it much more edible for me. It's not a difficult recipe, unless you're me, in which case you're…

Bacon & Cheese Quiche

I LOVE quiche and thought it would be a good thing to make. So I found a recipe for it and got cracking! Everyone liked it and it was gone as soon as it was cool enough to eat! Tip: DON'T butter the base of the tin to much... because we had a soggy bottom in ours. This was surprisingly easy to be honest, I was expecting it to be way harder than it actually was. Pastry: 220g plain flour 120g cold butter 1/2 tsp salt Filling: 200g streaky bacon, cut into small pieces (but not to small…

Sausage, Bacon and Potato Pie

My latest meal made mostly by myself (I can't peel potatoes). It was nicer than I expected, considering it was made by me. Everyone else liked it as well, including my sister surprisingly enough. Red Nose Day Cakes

Abbie made these for red nose day for a competition at St John ambulance cadets. I make my cakes from a recipe my mum gave me, weigh the eggs you are going to be using, my 4 eggs (in the shells) weighed 260g, then we weigh the same amount of sugar, flour and butter. This works for any amount of eggs in your recipe. Ingredients: 4 Eggs 260g Caster Sugar 260g Self Raising Flour 260g Butter Vanilla Essence Milk 250g Icing Sugar Food Colouring Method: Cream the sugar and butter until soft and…

Double Chocolate Cheesecake

Pretty good, you can swap out the chocolate basically any flavour you want. Breaded Chicken Fillet – Create, Make & Bake! Breaded Chicken, Slice Of Bread, Different Recipes, Rolling Pin, Original Recipe, Tray Bakes, Cooking Time, Easy Meals, Stuffed Peppers

Breaded Chicken Fillet

This one was kind of a original recipe but also loosely following an actual recipe. At one point the chicken came back to life and tried to escape, but I wouldn't let it. Had to bludgeon it again with a rolling pin. Its a pretty easy recipe to be honest, I just got impatient with the breadcrumbs and ate half the bread before they even made it to the crumb stage. You'll need: 4 Slices of bread, minus the crusts 1tsp Parsley 1tsp Thyme + 1/2tsp 1/2tsp Sea salt + 1/2tsp 1/2tsp Black…
