This is such a stunning gown - featuring 2 tiered ruffles, gathered sash, narrow train and a wide box petticoat, this 18th C court mantua contains many of the characteristics of fashionable 1760s fashion and of court french fashions - even if the gown itself isn't the height of fashion nor of the French court style. The silk is a stunning gentle blend of ivory silk, flowers and gold bands and must have been very expensive. French Fashion, Stunning Gowns, Ivory Silk
