Sometimes the 1st step is the hardest. Sometimes we can't quite see where it'll lead us. Sometimes we can't even see how on earth we would make a start. All we see is the people who are already up there and running and it seems like they've burned the bridges, that the way they took is no longer available for us. You're feeling alive, you clearly care about things that are important to you, otherwise you wouldn't give a shit. If you feel "bad", it means you care. Most of us underestimate what's possible, what we can achieve once we put our mind to something, fully commit and persevere through the speed bumps, challenges and failing-our-way-to-success sort of obstacles. Ingrained in existential thought is the idea that we are ultimately free to do whatever we want as long as we accept the risks and consequences. All that's holding us back is fear & anxiety. We just love being comfortable and saty with what we know. So we stay where we are. It's a…

Alan Watts can speak for himself. But I want to add that his philosophy and thoughts regularly emerge when I coach people. Particularly when clients grapple with where to go in life, how much they focus on outcomes and results as compared to enjoying the process and living in the moment (talking about mindsets and mindfulness). One of the most important balances we need to create and ultimately choose in life (incl the consequences) is between living in the moment and planning for the…

Mindfulness and many other forms of meditation are about clearing your mind (at willl) so that you can focus on the present moment. It's been demonstrated to to have a whole range of positive effects. It doesn't mean you shouldn't pay attention to things in the future or the past that need attention.
