Barcelona, Spain. The High Speed Rail Urban Integration Project involves a complex transformation of significant areas surrounding the new high-speed rail connecting Spain and France. AECOM was appointed to adapt and design the railway’s infrastructure to develop a modern, interconnected urban environment. The scheme involves the development of extensive residential, commercial and leisure spaces, including a 20,000 square metre park connecting around 180,000 people within a ten minute walk.

AECOM was appointed to adapt and design the railway’s infrastructure to develop a modern, interconnected urban environment. The scheme involves the development of extensive residential, commercial and leisure spaces, including a 20,000 square metre park connecting around 180,000 people within a ten minute walk.

Borders Railway, Scotland, UK. AECOM delivered the majority of the civil engineering designs for the major project. In total, 95 structures have been refurbished, and 42 new bridges have been constructed. The new route re-establishes passenger railway services between Midlothian and Tweedbank in the Scottish Borders for the first time since 1969. It includes seven new stations and 30 miles of new line, bringing a range of economic, social and environmental benefits to the area.

Alameda Corridor, California, United States. AECOM provided program management, conceptual development, engineering design, and construction management services to the Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority (ACTA) and the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach for the Alameda Corridor.  Opened in 2002, the Alameda Corridor is a 20-mile (32 kilometers) freight rail expressway that links the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach with a national rail system.

AECOM is leading a consortium to deliver the Mumbai Metro Line 3 project in India.The project will be the first underground metro line to be built in the Mumbai metropolitan region, which has a population of close to 21 million. The line, when completed by 2020, is expected to provide much-needed relief to commuters.

We collaborated with Mckinlay and Winton Shire Councils to remotely survey 600+km of vital road network in Australia using cutting-edge Unmanned Aerial Systems technology. This was the first time a long range UAV was approved to travel beyond the line of site for road survey purposes — allowing infrastructure assessments to be performed in remote areas by way of 3D photogrammetry.
