Brighton Festival 2011 branding and design

In 2011, Aung San Suu Kyi was invited to be Guest Director of Brighton Festival. We wanted to create an image that suggested her spiritual presence in Brighton for the Festival. Inspired by the ethereal quality of analogue photography and cinema, we created a double-exposure treatment of the Aung San Suu Kyi portrait against one of our own photographs of the fittingly Asian-influenced Royal Pavilion in Brighton. The final image aims to create an uplifting message of celebration and liberty.
