Pere Lachaise cemetery i had this on my say what board, & then this was brought to my attention.   It is QUITE grim but it is the memorial statue that was placed in Pere LaChaise Cemetery in remembrance of the victims of the Buchenwald Concentration Camp. It is purposely grim as to reflect the horrendous conditions at that place.

Artist, Helga Weissova-Hoskova, was imprisoned in the Thereisenstadt Ghetto of WWII. In 1963, she created this art, entitled: "Women and Children Being Sent on a Transport from the Terezin (Theresienstadt) Ghetto."

David Olère (1902 – 1985, Polish-born French) ~ "Punished in the Bunker" ~ As a Jew, David Olère was deported to Auschwitz, where he was forced to work in the gas chambers and crematorium. His work, based on personal experience, has exceptional documentary value. Needless to say that, in their tragic cruelty, his drawings and paintings are highly explicit.

Punished in the Bunker by David Olère. The cell was so narrow that Olère was unable to sit, stretch or lie down for the 48 hours of his punishment.

Micyslaw Koscielniak art: Already a prominent artist He was arrested in 1941 and sent to the Auschwitz concentration camp. His camp number was 15261. In the camp he drew about 300 paintings depicting the everyday life of prisoners. His work is currently displayed in the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum.
