Sonya Philips, Pods.These come from explorations with hand knit silk covered in beeswax. There is an alchemy in combining these two insect secretions. The luminous golden color comes from the the process of heating the wax and silk and the reaction of the seracin, the glue that holds the cocoon together, still present in the yarn.  Round or elongated, their shape echo those found in nature.

These are pods made by Sonya Philips, which have been made with hand knit silk covered in beeswax. They could be made by using balloons and covering them with netting and wax.
