Wormsley, Bucks. Getty’s own ground, created on his estate. It took an American to create something quintissentially English. When Mick Jagger introduced the philanthropist Sir Paul Getty to cricket, he formed such an affection for the sport that in 1992 he had a replica of The Oval built on his estate. The Queen Mother and prime minister John Major attended the first match, along with Michael Caine, Denis Compton and Brian Johnston.
