*This post may contain affiliate links. Please see my disclosure for more details!* A Buttery Digestive Base, Vanilla Cheesecake with Milky Way Pieces Running Through, and even more Deliciousness on top… The perfect Milky Way Cheesecake! I was searching for Milky Way recipes on Pinterest and got seriously confused.. I had no idea that Milky Way bars in the UK were different to America! America’s Milky Way bars are our Mars Bars… And I was astounded. Their ‘Mars Bar’ cheesecake recipes look…

Exploring the alphabet by searching for magnetic letter treasure in the sand. We often add a magnetic board with letters written on it to match them as we find them. Great sand play and early literacy activity. Making potions! Little one loves this. Her imagination runs wild as she explores colour mixing and texture whilst working on pouring and stirring. Today we had food colouring, water, baking soda, flowers, bubbles and dirt! Anything goes really! Adventures with Isla-Brae

Farmyard sensory play using whatever grains, seeds and bits we could find : ) This one has rice, pumpkin seeds, poppy seeds, oats, tiny pasta shells, coffee granules, grass and stones. Throw in some farm animals and a tractor (or quad bike in our case!) and play. Little lady enjoyed this outside in the sunshine so eventually most of it ended up being transported around the garden in buckets. Adventures with Isla-Brae

Snow play! I was a little under the weather and so didn't fancy a trip out in the snow (bad mummy!) so we brought it inside. Added a little blue food colouring, blue glitter and arctic (and Antarctic) animals and we had a lovely snow themed small world sensory play activity. We love cloud dough! We created a mountain with 4 cups of flour and then added 1/2 a cup of lavender scented baby oil to a well in the centre. We mixed it with our hands and were ready to play! It has such a lovely texture which changes as you play with it and can even be moulded into shapes. Obviously we had to explore with our feet too! A nice soothing (thanks lavender!) messy sensory play to do before bath time. Adventures with Isla-Brae

Very child led play dough activity today. We just had the play dough and shape cutters out and little one brought over the microwave and cake moulds then asked me for spoons, forks etc. I enjoyed a lovely sausage and chips dinner and cup of tea cooked from scratch 'a la little one'! Love it when their imaginations run free. Adventures with Isla-Brae

Junk model Robots! We're stuck in doors with chicken pox and are running low on activity materials so have had to use whatever we can find. We love a good junk model make, little one wanted to add some stickers for 'buttons' and we will paper mâché next week once we're pox free. Great activity for practising using scissors and so much imaginative fun you can have afterwards! Foam shapes on the window. Great activity to introduce colour, shapes and pattern. We drew and cut out shapes in different sizes and colours. Add some water, a paint brush and a window and you're ready to go. This activity is great in the bath too, just stick the foam shapes to the tiles. We took a day trip to the farm today. We talked about the different animals we might see and I drew a checklist (on little ones insistent's that I draw it!) which she then coloured in. We had great fun checking off all the animals when we spotted them and even added a few we had forgotten! Great observation activity : ) Adventures with Isla-Brae

Little one had chicken pox so not only were we stuck in I also didn't want her drying out her hands (covered in pox!) with regular paint so decided to investigate homemade paint. Took some ideas from Pinterest and came up with our own chicken pox friendly recipe. 1/2 cup plain flour 1/2 cup ready brek (oats are fab for chicken pox) 1 cup water Add food colouring She loved it! I may try adding washing up liquid next time once we're pox free! Painting with plastic eggs. Fill the plastic eggs with paint and add a little water to make it runnier. You may need to tape up the bottom of the eggs as most have holes in. Put them in an egg carton add some card and let little ones play. My little one enjoyed closing them and pouring the paint through the holes at the top but after a while it was more fun to just pour the paint all over. It made some brilliant patterns on the card.
