British Transport Films Collection | Science Museum Group Collection
Photographs, a collection of approximately 2,000 film and glass negatives; 5131 card-mounted silver prints; approximately 10,000 monochrome lantern slides and colour transparencies. The collection represents stills and 116 filmstrips taken during production of British Transport Films (BTF) films, covering British transport, travelogues and training, 1950-1986. Also includes notes and manuscript score for Intercity 1250. Full schedule compiled.
The Rhinelander At Chinley.
47572 "Ely Cathedral" climbs away from Chinley with "The Rhinelander" - 1E87 15:27 Manchester Piccadilly to Harwich Parkeston Quay. 18/9/87. This was a short-lived loco-hauled service which replaced the "European" on this route.

Brush Type 4 No. 1913 in the maintenance shed at Laira MPD on 23rd August 1970, in company with North British Type 2 No. D6343 and two 0-6-0 diesel shunters. New from Loughborough in October 1965, it was withdrawn as No. 47236 from Cardiff Canton in May 2006.

47707 'Holyrood', recently converted for working in push pull mode, departs Waverley with a Mk3 set and DBSO for Glasgow Queen Street. 47707 was the loco propelling one of these sets that struck a cow on the line near Polmont in July 1984. The subsequent derailment resulted in the loss of 13 lives. 19th January 1980
