John's creates decorated functional oxidized stoneware ceramics. All clay is vitreous when fired, and is waterproof and frost proof. Colours shown are from stock glazes and have been developed over many years use. Decoration at the moment derives from brush strokes, or more usually scraffitti marks and patterns loosely based on a fusion of my Celtic roots and natural forms. #thesussexguild
Pewtersmith Fleur Grenier works with only lead-free pewter in her work, with the result that pieces stay shiny and do not go grey with time as old pewter does. She creates designs which are highly individual in style and range from one-off items to tableware and from cheese knives and serviette rings to desk clocks and vases.See her work on the Sussex Guild website and on our Spring 2022 online shop
Sally Garrett is a visual artist working within a craft and material context. She is interested in the relationship between dancer and fine artist. Sally chooses to use porcelain paper clay to recreate the form of the ballet shoes, owing to its sculptural quality. Applying hand to material, each piece is softly moulded over a worn ballet shoe and then assembled, like the sewing of a garment. Textural, intuitive marks are coloured, bisqued and glazed. #porcelain #balletshoes

Blue Fossil Glass Bead Necklace
Annie McCabe creates handmade glass-bead jewellery. Each bead is made in an oxygen/propane flame using 'lampwork' and blown glass techniques believed to have originated in 16th & 17th century Venice. Using best quality transparent and opaque ‘soft Italian glass’ rods, she melts coloured glass in a flame and when molten, winds it around a steel rod. Beads are then sculpted and decorated before being annealed and cleaned ready for use in her jewellery. #thesussexguild #glassbeadjewellery

Etched Silver & Labbradorite Pendant
Etched silver pendant with a Labradorite stone and snake chain made by Eve Claire Taylor. Eve acid etched the silver from some original monoprints of her plant based designs. By transferring the black and white mono print from paper to acetate it is then possible for her to iron the silver to transfer the ink which becomes the stencil to then lay into the acid bath. This Labradorite stone has vibrant hints of blues and greens which complements the leafy etched design. #thesussexguild

Hand Forged Candy Canes
Sam draws with steel, using heat and hammers. Her inspiration comes from the black, sweeping lines of Art Nouveau illustrations, and the structured organic forms of plantlife and the natural world. She predominantly uses cold, hard, linear steel, but by manipulating and controlling it using the flames from the forge, welding and sculpting with power tools, she aims to create pieces that have gentle movement and life.

Glass Wall Art - Spring Birches
Sue Tinkler works in both small & large scale producing kiln formed glass wall art and sculptural originals. Sue creates flat artworks by fusing together sheet, granulated and powdered glass in a kiln, often numerous times to achieve desired effects. ‘Drop vessels’ are created by slowly reheating and allowing the glass to ‘sag’ to form their final shape. The highly textured Spring Birches design captures the atmosphere of light shining through the leaves. #thesussexguild #artglass #wallart
