The Avro Lancaster was the best and the most famous four-engine bomber British World War II. Born in 1941 as the twin-engine bomber estate failed Avro Manchester.

Beautiful Avro Lancaster.  Considered Britain's greatest bomber for WW2.  Main aircraft used for night assaults on Germany.  Four engines allow the plane to fly at 462km/h, and the heavy bomber delivered a bigger bombload than any other plane in Europe- 6350kgs to be exact.    One of my familys favourite planes.

British Bomber "Lancaster» (Avro 683 Lancaster) No. R5689 (VN-N) of 50 Squadron Royal Air Force flying over Swinderby, England. The "Lanc" first saw active service with RAF Bomber Command in 1942 and, as the strategic bombing offensive over Europe gathered momentum, it became the main heavy bomber used by the RAF, the RCAF, and squadrons from other Commonwealth and European countries serving within the RAF. The "Lanc" became the most famous and most successful of WW2 night bombers.
