The boathouses on Coniston Water below Bank Ground Farm in the English Lake District where the real 'Swallows', the Altouyan-Collingwood family of Lanehead, kept their clinker-built sailing dinghies. Arthur Ransome helped to teach them to sail on this stretch of water opposite the village of Coniston. I took this photograph in 2012 from 'Ransome' the launch which takes passengers down the lake to John Ruskin's former house Brantwood, where WG Collingwood worked.

The boathouses on Coniston Water below Bank Ground Farm in the English Lake District where the real 'Swallows', the Altouyan-Collingwood family of Lanehead, kept their clinker-built sailing dinghies.
