1964 82004, 45105, 47308, 3742 with 53808 out of service on the gas siding behind the old carriage Brough to the front as I have always been pleased with this shot of the Midland Shed. Taken in the evening, I wish I had taken more like it. I was lucky to just be able to wander round here, The Black 5 is waiting to take out the 10.15 parcels to the north. This was rostered for a Peak but was regularly replaced by steam, usually a 5 or Jubilee, but a B1 or rebuilt Pat turned up occasionally…

BR Standard 3 2-6-2T 82031 is the next in line. The mountain of engine parts to the left towers over the scene & the workers seem to be using the truncated bunker & cab of a tank engine as a shelter by the smoking fire. The river Usk can be seen flowing behind the yard - the impressive transporter bridge is still standing downstream of this scene although I don't think it's still in operation. Best viewed 'Original' size. British Railways built (Swindon, 1950) Collett "Castle" class 4-6-0 7032 "Denbigh Castle" reverses out of Paddington station taking empty stock to Old Oak common for servicing - c.11/1963.. 7032 was new to Swindon (82C) shed on 05/07/1950, but moved within a week to Old Oak Common (81A) where it spent the remainder of its short life. July 4th, 1968 Healey Mills Forlornly waiting onward movement to Draper's in Hull are Standard Class 5 73126 (exPatricroft) and Stanier Class 5 45101 (exNewton Heath). Taken when Healey Mills was still thriving - there are three EE Type 3s and an EE Type 4 also visible. There were 11 EE Type 3s seen that day and three EE Type 4s (D201, D392, D393) Ref B3-41

LNER Gresley 4-6-2 Class A3 No 60107 ROYAL LANCER and Class A4 No 60006 SIR RALPH WEDGWOOD in the yard at Grantham shed, 60107 was a Grantham allocated loco and 60006 was from just down the road at New England. 60107 was built at Doncaster (Wks No 1568) and delivered new to Grantham as LNER Class A1 No 1476 in May 1923, renumbered 4476 in February 1925 allocated the number 506 under the 1st 1946 renumbering scheme but it was never applied she was renumbered 107 and rebuilt as Class A3 in…
