Pamukkale, meaning "cotton castle" in Turkish, is a natural site in Denizli Province in southwestern Turkey. The city contains hot springs and travertines, terraces of carbonate minerals left by the flowing water. It is located in Turkey's Inner Aegean region, in the River Menderes valley, which has a temperate climate for most of the year.

I am working on my Diploma with Sian Martin's Distant Stitch course. This is a distance-learning course in design, textile arts, creative embroidery and mixed media based in the UK.

Interesting use of base layer – Laser cut fabric with embroidery around the raw edges to further compliment the organic style of the fabric. A way of translating this example to further suit my selected theme could be by purchasing a tribal/Aztec-patterned fabric and then beading in various ways around the motifs. The artisans could possible cut out or add applique to the fabric as a way introducing more techniques to the sample.
