A lot of the art I've seen has shown a person's knowledge or personality leaving them, crumbling or flying away. It is suggested, by the use of colour, that all the colour and happiness has left this man leavinng him blank and lifeless.

This is a good representation of Aphasia/memory loss. I can't imagine what it must feel like to lose the ability to express yourself verbally.
