Hares

'Mad March' hares boxing is part of the spring courtship ritual of brown Hares. Courtship involves boxing, This march behaviour is actually female hares fending off male hares.

In March and April, Hares can often be seen going 'Mad'. They Leap about and have wild chases with each other. They will also have 'Boxing Matches'. Two Hares, usually a Male and a Female, stand up on their hind legs. They face each other then start to 'Box' with each other. This is all part of the Mating & 'Courtship' ritual. A sure sign of great Strength & Stamina. Thus the Male proves he would be a good candidate for mating rights.
