An iconic image. Factory runs through the veins of the city. It's provided or influenced the soundtrack to the city, from the bands -  Joy Division, New Order, ACR, Durutti Column, Happy Mondays, Northside, James and OMD; to the Hacienda, Dry Bar, the film '24 Hour Party People'; and the current club FAC251 in the old Factory Records HQ.

Seminal British band The Stone Roses released their self titled debut album in 1989. The cover features artwork by band member John Squire, who was largely responsible for the band’s visual identity.

Stone Roses: As with most Stone Roses releases, the cover displays a work by John Squire. It is a Jackson Pollock-influenced piece titled "Bye Bye Badman," which makes reference to the May 1968 riots in Paris.

Madchester - this musical mayhem exploded in the late 1980s and early 1990s, making huge stars of The Happy Mondays, The Stone Roses and Tony Wilson. The Hacienda nightclub was its epicentre.
