BUTTER WAKEFIELD loves nothing more than putting together flowers for any occasion. Here she arranged a big bunch of flowers for a friends dinner party. The dark blue pickle jar is the perfect container. She used a combination of delphiniums campanula and Oak leaves to give this arrangement a lush opulent feel
BUTTER WAKEFIELD GARDEN DESIGN This photo shows the importance of good garden lighting. This photo was taken one afternoon in December when light levels are low, and the sun sets around 3:30. The garden lights change this potentially dark picture into a vibrant scene that my clients enjoy all evening long and in turn all year round.
BUTTER WAKEFIELD My love for flowering arranging really stems from my mother's mother. She and my Grandfather had the most heavenly gardens, and she would constantly be cutting and arranging flowers all summer long. She really was a domestic goddess in the true sense of the word. She entertained beautifully, her house was a visual sensation stuffed full of antiques, beautiful porcelain collections and pictures. She was a real inspiration to me!
BUTTER WAKEFIELD found these stunning orange poppies at the Covent Garden Flower Market for a song. She loves the charming way they twist and turn in their glass bottles. An amusing and colourful spring display, they lasted for weeks too.
BUTTER WAKEFIELD GARDEN DESIGN Here the right hand side of the garden and central steps can be seen giving one an idea of the different levels Butter had to work with, a challenging task, but generous wide steps that lead the one up into the garden are always a welcome design feature.
BUTTER WAKEFIELD GARDEN DESIGN Bespoke trellis panels made by the Garden Trellis Company painted in same colour as the containers made by Oxford Planters. Butter wanted to blur the garden boundaries by lining the walls and bisecting the garden to create a sense of privacy on both the upper and lower levels of the garden.
BUTTER WAKEFIELD GARDEN DESIGN Butter uses plenty of sun loving perennials such as Salvia nem 'Caradonna', and Nepeta grand. 'Summer Magic' interplanted with box cubes and Allium 'Lucy Ball' for height and a bit of fun to complete the specified purple white and green garden
