Appleby area April 5th - visit to Whinfell View a timber frame house under construction by Western Construction Cumbria Ltd - 1 of 3 highly efficient new builds on the same site. The timber frame is by Eden Frame and will be fully insulated with Thermafleece sheep’s wool insulation.  Opportunity to see inside the walls of a timber frame house and see elements which will be hidden from view once the house is complete.

03.05.2014 Three groups of houses  in Staveley, central Kendal and Killington for renewable energy technologies and energy saving products inc:  biomass wood pellet boilers, solar photovoltaics (electricity), solar thermal (hot water) and a proposed hydro-electricity site. Houses inc passive house, timber frame extension to a Georgian terrace, renovations and a barn conversion.  Information hub  open from 10am – 4pm in the Castle Street Community Centre, (Kendal, LA9 7AD).

CRED Seminars 2013-14 Wednesday 26 March 2014 This seminar investigates what climate is, how it could affect the Cumbrian landscape and how other related critical global processes will influence the direction of the Cumbrian landscape for the next 50 to 70 years. We explore some of the options available to us in Cumbria to become more resilient to these types of change.

Now looking for small businesses  to access research vouchers for use on energy projects. Each voucher is worth £5,000 in value and can be used to purchase time or expertise from the university's academic team or from external consultants.

The University of Cumbria’s IFLAS)will hold an open lecture at their Ambleside campus on Tuesday 3 June. Delivered by Jane Burston, Head of the Centre for Carbon Measurement at the National Physical Laboratory, the lecture is entitled The New Climate for Business and will address the need for a systemic shift in economic activity and incentives to address climate change.
