Do you have right of way?
When you're out cruising on one of our hire boats, winding your way through the countryside and you approach a bridge, the rule of thumb is if you are the first boat there, then its your right of way.
Sloe Gin Making
Whilst we venture out on the Great British Canals, on one of Calcutt Boats wonderful hire boats, we see the hedgerows laden with fruit from August onwards. If you're lucky, you'll find sloes perfect for making your Christmas Sloe Gin.
When you head out from Calcutt Boats in one of our holiday hire narrowboats, one of the most fabulous trips is a journey to the quaint village of Braunston. It's just a 2.5 hour trip from our base, so a lovely little taster for the first leg of your adventure.
What a stunning place, in the heart of the Great British Countryside. A perfect spot to moor up for the evening in one of Calcutt Boats holiday hire boats.

Happy Customer Comments July 2020
'We picked up Hemlock 2 yesterday -newly refurbished and spotlessly clean - very comfortable. Have got through Braunstone tunnel and heading to Welford. Not very adventurous so far but who knows. Thanks Louise and Tim.
A Bunk With a View
Many of our hire boats have bunk beds which both children and adults love. You never know what you will open the curtains to in the morning. Sometimes a duck, sometimes a dog, a beautiful countryside view and other times catching a glimpse of other narrowboats quietly drifting by. It's all an adventure, with a forever changing view.
