The Vorwerk is personally my favourite breed of all time. Originating from Germany, it is a rare fowl with striking black and gold plumage. They are very hardy, adaptable birds with economical appetites! The Vorwerk is classed as a light breed, a dual purpose bird used both for meat and egg production. They are alert and active but are not seen as flighty in anyway. We have a lovely trio which have proven good eggs layers, with a high fertility rate.
Blue Cochin chicken. This chicken was originally bred in China and later exported to Britain and America in the mid-19th century. As a very distinctive breed of chicken, it apparently created a bit of a craze among poultry lovers in the English-speaking world, effectively launching poultry fancy as we know it today.
These chickens, originally from England, are the golden retrievers of the chicken world. They're large, friendly birds with golden feathers who are curious and incredibly lovable, plus they enjoy being held. They run well and typically lay three large brown eggs per week.
