The study of flags is known as vexillology, which is taken from the Latin word vexillum meaning flag or banner. National flags are often used as symbols of patriotism – and this is true for UK county flags, too.
Dylan Thomas. Famous Welsh poet and writer. He caught the attention of the literary world in 1934 with 'Light breaks where no sun shines'. Some of his great works 'And death shall have no dominion' and 'Do not go gentle into that good night'. In 1953 he became gravely ill and sadly died at the young age of 39 in New York.
