Mixed media textile art beads hand made with Tyvek aqua | Etsy

I hope you like my mixed media textile art beads Each bead is hand made by me from painted Tyvek which I manipulate with heat to achieve the interesting shapes and textures. The colours are built up in many layers over as many as four or five stages to achieve the look I am after. The colours have a sheen to them that reflects the light and each and every bead is one of a kind. No two packets of beads are quite the same. You will receive these actual beads seen here in these photographs…

Pebble colours

From my sketchbook a few samples looking more closely at the many colours that can be found in pebbles rocks and stones I used layers of different textured fabrics stitched together in pebble colours of silver, grey, blue, stone, coral and brown. The chiffons on top were torn and then distressed with heat to get those bubbled textures This is a collage of papers torn from a magazine ... picking out colours and patterns that resembed pebbles, torn in strips then woven into a grid I used oil…

work from our exhibition "inspired to stitch"

what would we do for conversation ... if it wasn't for the weather! after such a lovely day on Saturday the last few days have been thick with fog and Cornish mizzle from one pier to the other you can hardly see the lighthouse on Monday I was at the exhibition with Jo and during the afternoon I took a little break and went for a walk it was really quite chilly as I watched a couple of doggies playing in a shallow pool of water at the bottom of the pier and admired the markings on the pier…

rockpool heart - detail

Imagine a beautiful summer day, hardly a whisper of breeze. The sea is calm and the rockpool waters lay still revealing their yield. Shells and pebbles in little nooks. Move a stone, what will you find? Detail from one of my rockpool hearts. I love the concept of a rock pool full of surprises, flotsom, jetsom and treasures from nature. I'm pursuing this theme and love to make little hearts decorated with an ecclectic mix of found objects, stitch and text I used heat distressed chiffons…
