I've been on a bit of a fancy citrus bender lately, putting the squeeze on Meyer lemons for Whiskey Sours, slicing blood oranges into wedges to garnish Old Fashioneds, and juicing them to make crimson-hued Margaritas
The Ginger Smash. 2 small kumquats, 2 slices fresh ginger, 1 teaspoon superfine sugar, 3/4 fresh-squeezed lime juice, 1 oz. Clement Creole Shrubb, 1 1/2 oz. Milagro Silver Tequila. In the bottom of a pint glass, muddle the kumquats, ginger and sugar into a paste. Add the remaining ingredients and fill the glass with ice, shake 10-12 times with a shaker and pour into a Collins glass. Enjoy.
