The painting portrays ex-GWR 4-6-0 No 1004 'County of Somerset' at Wolverhampton Low Level having set back onto the Cornishman to take the service forward to Penzance at 9:15am, with 0-6-0PT No 8411 and 2-6-2T No 5151 seen on either side. Built by Swindon works to 358 in October 1945, No 1004 was to remain in service until Sept. '62.
