I reached for this great top tip yesterday when I was struggling to open a very tightly sealed jar. Rather than straining for minutes with a tea towel wrapped around the lid, I reached for the can opener! Use the end of the can opener to gently lift up the lid until you hear a popping sound. This means that the air seal is broken and you can now open the jar easily.
It might seem like absolute nonsense but if you boil water before freezing it, it will actually freeze faster than water straight from the tap! It's called the Mpemba effect.
Here's a great Tuesday Top Tip for when you need to cut lots of tomatoes in half for a sauce. Pop all the tomatoes on one plate and pop another plate over the top. Whilst keeping the tomatoes in place with the top plate, glide the knife through the gap in the plates and voilà!
