1810-20 Trousers, Britain Machine-knitted cotton with applied silk braid, metal and pearl buttons, linen tape. An intricate pattern of loops and applied braid decorates the front of this pair of pantaloons. 1910s, Edward The Prince of Wales wearing the 'petticoat breeches' which were once part of a Knight of the Garter's robes ( a long blue velvet mantle is also worn) . The last time complete Garter robes were seen was when they were worn by the four Knights who carried the canopy at the Queen's Coronation in 1953. This example of a three-cornered hat is of a type of felt called 'half-beaver' that was made by adding beaver hair to felt. The edges are bound in silver lace & the cockade is of black silk/cotton blend. The gold lace loop & button are of a later date. Hats were not mentioned in uniform regulations until 17...
