Inus-Dream Cosplay is making a version of this Eiko Ishioka gown from Mirror, Mirror. Inus-Dream says: "Hand embroidery is fun and hate together. Its a relaxing work but its very time consuming. (8-9 hours for one feather) I used a 3D pen to draw the lines on my fabric so the embroidery isn't too flat. Its not a time saver but it makes it more realistic. If you iron the paint it pops up higher." I think is would save time versus embroidering an underlayer of thread the satin stitch on top!
