For anyone who hasn't heard of this before, the point of Heuristic Play is that the natural resources can be used /  combined / played with in any way the child wishes, there is no pre-determined outcome.  Alot of toys nowadays need to be played with in a specifice way, whereas Heuristic Play allows a child to use their imagination and be creative, without any pressure to produce / achieve something.

Treasure baskets

Treasure baskets have become quite popular in this house. A couple of weeks ago, we introduced a textile treasure basket and since then.

Learned a new word: "heuristic" play. Meaning trial and error and learning from experience. Great place to start with babies!

Heuristic play meets aspects of all four goals of the New Brunswick Curriculum Framework for Early Learning and Child Care
