Abandoned in Walpack, N.J. This area was supposed to be flooded by the Tocks Island Dam project. 70,000+ acres of land was purchased and residents homes and farms were bought. The damn would have created a 40 mile long lake and was supposed to start in 1967. It would have held around 250 BILLION gallons of water. By 1975 what you see was going to be under water. By 1992 congress finally pulled the plug on the project. But by that time the land was turned over to the parks dept. Farms, Acre, Derelict Buildings, Parks, Long Lake, Abandoned Places, Lake

The Jennings Petroglyph is a large rock containing more than 30 carvings that was found on the New Jersey side of the river across from Dingmans Ferry, Pike County. In 1965 it was removed to Seton Hall University to save it from being covered by the lake that was to be formed behind the Tocks Island Dam – a dam that was never built. The Crane-Goldhardt House was built in 1906 as a summer home for vaudeville actors. it sits empty since its seizure by the federal government for the Tocks Island Dam Project, but later found out the ground was not stable enough to support a dam.
