Hawker Tempest Mk.V's, 1944.

Tempest Mark V on completion at the Hawker Aircraft Company works at Langley, Berkshire. This aircraft, JN818, served with No. 3 Squadron RAF and was flown by the Commanding Officer, Squadron Leader K A Wigglesworth, when the Newchurch Tempest wings attacked a V2 launch site in a wood 20 miles north of the Hague on 13 September 1944. Wigglesworth fired on the target, causing an explosion which destroyed his aircraft and killed him. Photo; IWM

Also avenged us on New Years day, they were in the air at the time and altogether destroyed 44 of our visitors after he left Eindhoven for the trip back to the Fatherland. Lubeck, July ’45.
