Not everyone's idea of a shiny living room installation but as Duncan puts it "with me it's function over form - this stove burns 24/7 from Oct to Apr and 16/07 for much of the rest of the year and doesn't miss a beat, bless it". Duncan uses his Hybrid for heating, airing seasoned wood (from a sustainable woodland management plan), drying washing and cooking.
We've been glad to have been involved with a project to preserve as much as possible a Victorian range that, although very beautiful, was proving to be impractical and inefficient by modern standards. Instead of ripping the whole range out which the customer was very loath to do, he removed the original fire box and we custom made a Dowling Anvil to fit the space. He's sent us pictures of the final set up and he's very pleased with the result, as are we.
A beautiful pic for our board sent in from Catrin, very contented dog in front of a roaring Hybrid. We were a little concerned when we saw the placing of the logs though - a wee bit too close! Logs do look great stacked around the stove but take care, maybe a log holder which shields them or one that sits on the hearth, (see our FB page for our log holder).
We do have a lot of Dowlings in public situations but don't get the chance to share pics of them very often, thank you to Chris from MI Flues for sharing this pic of a Sumo in the Isles of Glencoe hotel - an older model but still going strong.
A Dowling Sumo newly installed in a lovely fireplace in Newlyn, and lovely message from it's new owner "At last yesterday your lovely stove was installed and I’m so pleased. It burns really well and I’m sure it’ll keep us warm and toasty for years to come. Thanks again for all your help." Thank you Anne for your custom.
