Michael Brennand Wood

Michael Brennand Wood Crayola. This is a very unique piece as well. I like how this is a 3D piece instead of on a canvas and using crayons as the main material of the piece. My interpretation of the piece is that it is meant to represent school because there is different types of stationery used and there is small sections of book covers on the piece too.

Micheal Brennand-Wood

Michael Brennand Wood is one of my favourite artists. I love his use of bold electric colours and his use of layering. I find him and his work inspirational. I have used his pieces for research in many of my projects.

Three Artist

Jenny Raiment Known as the Muslin Mistress Jenny obviously has a reputation for her expertise in the field of creating textural surfaces. While the procedure for making the pieces concentrates on detail and accurate cutting and sewing I was heartened to read her quotes , 'Mistakes do not matter the result is just different' from Tucks, Textures and Pleats and 'You can't go wrong, it's just different' from Tucks and Textures Two, St Richard's Press Limited. The sense of reality that one gets…

NYC - Lexington Avenue-53rd Street: "Passing Through" by Al Held (2004) by christiNYCa, via Flickr

Oops!

Lexington Avenue-53rd Street AL HELD Passing Through, 2004 Glass mosaic on mezzanine walls Passing Through is one of the last public works of celebrated abstract painter Al Held; it was being installed at the time of his death. The colorful and exuberant mural reveals an immense universe in which geometric elements of varying shapes and sizes float freely. In the 1960s, Held moved from abstraction to tightly controlled geometric work, with two-dimensional figures suspended on the canvas…

The Disorienting Power of Al Held's Black-and-White Paintings

In 1967, the angel of ambiguity rescued Al Held from the burly heaviness of his body and the formalist ideology of his thinking.

Al Held - Pan North IV [1986]

Al Held (Brooklyn, New York, October 12, 1928 - near Camerata, Italy, July 27, 2005) was an American Abstract expressionist painter. He was particularly well known for his large scale Hard-edge paintings. As an artist, multiple stylistic changes occurred throughout his career, however, none of these occurred at the same time as any popular emerging style or acted against a particular art form. In the 1950s his style reflected the abstract expressionist tone and then transitioned to a…
