Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia, Canada ~ A small rural community located on the eastern shore of St. Margarets Bay in Nova Scotia's Halifax Regional Municipality, which is famous for the Peggy's Point Lighthouse.

Smuggling prospered in Polperro when it was developed as a port in the 12th c. & reached it's zenith in the late 18th c. when Britain's wars w/ America & France hastened high taxation of imported goods. Local fisherman boosted their income by smuggling spirits, tobacco & other goods from Guernsey. A more organized Coast Guard service was introduced in the 19th c. along w/ stiff penalties, & led to much less smuggling.
