How not to do alcove cupboards

I am totally sick of seeing ugly badly designed alcove units on pintrest and in people homes, I don’t care if this upsets people this is my Alcove cupboards wall of shame. For each post I have noted what is wrong with the design. Please note I say what “IS” wrong with the design not “what I think is wrong with the design” If you can’t proportion things correctly don’t bloody well make it! Making ugly things beautifully is nothing to be proud of (a bit like ridicule – as Adam Ant might say)

Door frame stiles and rails all the same thickness so the doors look heavy. Doors are framed all round with a 50mm boarder ????? why???

For living room built-in with simple shaker doors

This is an example of where I think the cupboards are slightly too low. I like the rest of it and think the surface with the pots is a good depth but I feel the cupboards look disproportionately low to the fireplace.

No vertical lines top the left and right of the glass doors, just drifts into the side walls. The doors come below the skirting board line with no other horizontal definition, consistently the unit looks weak and ill defined.

Door frame stiles and rails all the same thickness so the doors look heavy. Better proportioned than some but the design is ruined by too many skinny shelves which have no relationship with the cupboard, The cupboard has significant frame members but the shelves are fitted???? the net result is the cupboard looks too big or it looks like two totally different projects Breaks up the natural lines of the room by spilling out over the chimney breast

OMG WTF!!! not much else to say about this. All the usual bodgers traits, unit interups the line of the chime breast for no other reason t its technically easy to do, Door frames and stiles are all the same size WHY WHY WHY??? if the bottom stile was thicker than the top and the sides were narrower that the stiles the unit would look light and lifted Stupid round nobs (Homebase's finest no doubt) in the middle of the door - yeaaaah niiiice.
