People who win silver tend to consider themselves “first loser”, while those who win bronze are just happy to be on the podium at all.

31 July 2012: Princes William & Harry were as thrilled as Team GB athletes when practically faultless performances propelled them to an Olympic silver medal. However, delight turned to disbelief in just a matter of minutes as the gymnastics competition continued as a rollercoaster ride for spectators.   The podium celebration, during which the athletes blew kisses to supporters, was interrupted by the news that there had been a mistake with the score; Team GB were instead in line for bronze.

Gibbons wins British Championship | Team GB  - Olympic silver medalist Gemma Gibbons returned to action and picked up the first British Championship gold of her career in Sheffield.  Gibbons, one of the stars of London 2012, won all five of her contests at the English Institute of Sport, defeating Laura Dangerfield to win the final in just eight seconds.
