ABDUCENS nerve CN6 abducens nerve (CN VI) which courses lateral, and sometimes inferior, to the internal carotid artery inside the cavernous sinus, before entering the orbital cavity via the superior orbital fissure. It lies on the medial surface of the lateral rectus muscle which it innervates.
