Those familiar with Armenian Churches might have come across a mysterious sign on top of the main altar on numerous occasions. This curious sign “Է” as seen in the picture is the letter of the Armenian alphabet and has a very interesting history.
I still sign my name in Armenian script, though I live in Orlando now. It just doesn't look right in Latin script, as if it's someone else's name and not mine. Armenian script and language are so beautiful ♡♡♡

Ghukas (Luca) Vanandetsi (XVII-XVIII centuries) and Mkhitar Sebastatsi (1676-1749) lived and worked in Europe in 17th-18th centuries and are known for their detailed charts of the heavens. Lukas Vanandetsi made astronomical instruments, published the first sky chart with Armenian names of constellations in Amsterdam at the beginning of XVIII century. Mkhitar Sebastatsi was the person who founded the Armenian Catholic Church community in St. Lazar island near Venice.
