Tyrol is a historical region in the Eastern Alps, in Western Austria and Northern Italy. Tyrolean folkwear has a quintessentially nostalgic German look. The ‘Janker’ is an Austrian and German folk jacket which is made of a wollen-yarn material that is similar to felt. Typically, the edges are trimmed with a contrasting color and the buttons are made of metal or horn. The classic colors of a janker are grey, green or red. The knitted version of a janker is always worked in garter stitch.
