"The Great Pacific Garbage Patch, also described as the Pacific Trash Vortex, is a gyre of marine litter in the central North Pacific Ocean located roughly between 135°W to 155°W and 35°N and 42°N.[1] The patch extends over an indeterminate area, with estimates ranging very widely depending on the degree of plastic concentration used to define the affected area." ugh i read about this... sad

Vast Pacific Garbage Patch Documented-- There is so much garbage randomly floating around in the ocean that they keep mistaking it for the missing flight. THIS PRESENTS A PROBLEM MUCH BIGGER THAN A MISSING AIRPLANE!

Great Pacific Garbage Patch

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch in a nutshell.

It’s no secret that the world’s ocean trash problem is getting bad; looking at a handful of images from the Texas-sized Pacific garbage patch should be enough to convince anyone. As for all of our litter that doesn’t end up in the middle of the ocean? It often stays close to shore, where volunteers for Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup pick some of it up, cataloging all the items they find.
