Kali Ma is an energy that lives within us all. She is the Dark Goddess of the Hindu tradition. She is both a mother creatress, as well as a fierce destroyer. Her wisdom is wild and primeval, the embodied Shakti. She is the divine form of Mother Nature herself.
Finally her three eyes represent the sun, moon, and fire, with which she is able to observe the three modes of time: past, present and future. This attribute is also the origin of the name Kali, which is the feminine form of 'Kala', the Sanskrit term for Time.
"Kali represents the entire physical plane. She is the drama, tragedy, humor, and sorrow of life. She is the brother, father, sister, mother, lover, and friend. She is the fiend, monster, beast, and brute … The full and seductive, terrible and wonderful earth mother always has something to offer." --Robert M. Pirsig, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.
Goddess Kali by Kalyani Ganapathy Bangalore, India Goddess Kali is a powerful image of a woman in protest. She encompasses empathy and anger in the same breath, love and protest in another. There is a Kali in every woman, she is never dormant, she exists, she is all powerful, we just never connect with that part of us.
