Kate Morton is a wonderfully evocative writer. Her novels feature strong female protagonists who explore the past in search of facts to clear up a mystery and thereby ease their own lives. I love the way she goes back and forth between the present and the past. This book, in particular, has a spectacular twist at the end. DO NOT SKIP AHEAD!
