This is a great video about the history of Shakespeare's Globe Theater and how the rebuilt Globe Theater is used today. I would use this in a unit on Shakespeare to help my students get an idea of what the world was like during Shakespeare's time.

The modern reconstruction of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre was opened on this day in British history, June 12, 1997. The first play performed in Shakespeare's Globe was Henry V.

In 1970, American actor and director Sam Wanamaker, founded the Shakespeare Globe Trust, and International Shakespeare Globe Centre with the objective of building a faithful recreation of Shakespeare’s Globe close to its original location. While many had said that the Globe reconstruction was impossible to achieve, he persevered for over twenty years, and eventually a new Globe theater was built.
