Charles "Charlie" Tickner is a four-time United States National men's Figure Skating Champion and the 1978 World Figure Skating Champion.  He also won the bronze medal at the 1980 Olympic Winter Games in Lake Placid, New York. Tickner's success in figure skating began when he was slightly older than most male figure skaters. He was 26 when he competed in the Olympics, which made him one of the oldest single skaters to compete in the event from the U.S. at the time.
