Noble Gas Molecule Detected in Space for First Time Dec 13, 2013 by Sci-News.com A molecule containing the noble gas argon has been discovered in the beautiful Crab Nebula, the remains of a star that exploded 1,000 years ago. Before the discovery, molecules of this kind have only been studied in laboratories on Earth.

While studying the dust content of the Crab Nebula with the Herschel Space Observatory, astronomers have detected emission lines from argon hydride, a molecular ion containing the noble gas argon. This is the first detection of a noble-gas based compound in space. This image shows a composite view of the supernova remnant as viewed by the Herschel and the Hubble Space Telescope.

Noble Gas Game... hilarious way to kill 5 minutes in class.

They really should be called noble gas signs, because not all of them are neon.

Learn About the Element Xenon: Xenon normally is a colorless gas, but it emits a blue glow when excited by an electrical discharge, as seen here.

Get periodic table facts on the chemical and physical properties of the element xenon.

A noble gas cage: New material traps gases from nuclear fuel better and uses less energy than currently available options -- ScienceDaily

When nuclear fuel gets recycled, the process releases radioactive krypton and xenon gases. Naturally occurring uranium in rock contaminates basements with the related gas radon. A new porous material called effectively .

The noble gases are one of the better known groups of elements in the Periodic Table, and whilst some of their applications are obvious, such as the use of helium in balloons, others, such as the use of xenon in medical imaging and as a neuroprotector, or the use of helium as a carrier gas in gas chromatography, are a little more obscure

Getting towards the end of this particular series of infographics now - whilst this graphic completes the overview of specific groups, there are still graphics on the transition metals, lanthanides.
