Ruth Langer Lawrence (1922-1999) - Austrian Jewish swimmer who, along with  Judith Deutsch and Lucie Goldner, refused to compete in the 1936 Olympic Games in Nazi Germany.  She was 15 at the time.  She and the others were then banned from swimming and had their records erased by the Austrian Swimming Federations.  In 1995, the Federation of Austrian Swimming Clubs lifted the ban imposed on her and said  "You, Ms. Lawrence, are an example to young people. We are proud that you are there."

Judith Deutsch was Austria's top swimmer in the and was selected to represent her country at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
